Jamey Burns is an educational consultant who specializes in professional learning in K-12 and early childhood systems. Most recently, Dr. Burns’ work has focused on improving teaching and learning in high-poverty schools and districts throughout the Southeastern United States. She has led professional development for well over a decade in multiple areas including: systems change, leadership, inquiry/action-research, instructional coaching/mentoring, teacher lesson-study, communities of practice, and student engagement/collaboration. She is an author of Inquiring into the Common Core (Corwin) and has published articles and book chapters highlighting her approach and accomplishments with turnaround schools and systems. Dr. Burns received her undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees from the University of Florida and currently serves on the Educational Advisory Council for the Dean of Education at the University of North Florida.
