Establish teacher-led learning teams

Effective professional learning communities engage teams in a cycle of continuous improvement, promote collective responsibility for student learning, and support alignment of individual, team, school, and school system goals.

Learning Forward supports districts in developing cultures of learning and implementing PLCs with fidelity. We work with schools and systems to emphasize the “L” in PLCs. By focusing on learning, we guide educators to employ a cycle of continuous improvement process where change, instructional improvement, and increased student learning are the goals, and learning is the intention of collaboration.

Learning Forward helps systems establish teacher-led learning teams in all schools that engage in a cycle of learning that includes:

  1. Analyzing data to identify student learning needs.
  2. Setting learning goals for their students.
  3. Selecting or constructing learning designs that facilitate their own learning so they may address student learning goals.
  4. Implementing new instructional strategies in their classrooms.
  5. Monitoring, assessing, and adjusting practice.

We want to help you ensure that your teachers are collaborating in ways that improve their practice and get results for their students.
